Nancy Lavely Volunteers needed!

Phil and I are purchasing an exciting new franchise called ShelfGenie. Look up the company at www.ShelfGenie.com to see what this is all about. As part of our new business introduction, we need to work with five people here at The Landings. If you think that you might be interested in this solution to your cabinet clutter, let me know. There is NO OBLIGATION here to purchase anything. This would take about thirty minutes of your time.

Vicki L. Harrison Sparrow Park

Most residents do not go to the Sparrow Park. It could be a lovely place. It is managed by The Landings Club and it is a great place for bird lovers.

The only problem with the park is that it has become a dumping ground. Cement from Deer Creek has been dumped in the back of the Park. Plastic piping has been dumped and just general debri. The rain floods the dirt path, so if you are walking with your pets or other friends you become a muddy mess.

I am concerned

Mary Beth Lupoli President Obama in Savannah 3/2/10: White House to Bay Street

It has been talked about, planned, and now it is happening - on a really rainy Tuesday!

This will be his third tour as part of his White House to Main Street series.

Lee Wilkes What's going on with the real estate market at The Landings?

According to MLX, there are 300+/- homes for sale at The Landings. Over the past three months, there have been 30+/- sales with a median sale price of $425,000. These are round numbers and exclude some non-market sales. Just food for thought! Continue

Chris Lupoli A Field Trip in New Orleans

Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints and the city of New Orleans for winning the Super Bowl. As an avid football fan, I know how happy I would be if my Eagles were to win the big one. I could go into a description of the years of dismal football the New Orleans Saints franchise and its fans have experienced, but I am sure most are aware.

I feel a major part of this story is what this city and its people have been through, and how it must f

Lee Wilkes Real Estate: Simple steps sellers can take to maximize value and minimize marketing time

As a Real Estate Agent and a State Certified appraiser, I always get the question, "Why do some homes sell quickly while others sit on the market for a long time." While we usually determine a value based on technical factors (lot value, bed/bath count, square feet, etc), there are more subtle factors that are equally important in both valuation and marketing time. You might be aware that we are in a buyers market. This means that not only do median values decline, but more homes on the market m… Continue

Chris Lupoli So Who Is Skiddie?

I am sure many of you have noticed photos, videos, messages from Skidaway Today, etc. that have been added by "Skiddie". I figured many wonder, “Who is Skiddie?” and “Why is there a "Skiddie"? Skiddie serves a lot of purposes on Skidaway Today. Our logo, for example, is a stylized white bird in flight. We view it to be an icon of a flying great egret. To be representative of Skidaway Island and Skidaway Today, we have named this egret "Skiddie".

Chris Lupoli What's With Those Oval Decals?

I am sure you all have noticed the proliferation of the white oval window/bumper decals cars. These decals have been around for many years and are technically referred to as "Euro Stickers". Honestly, I thought they were a trend that would have subsided long ago, but they have continued to grow. According to StickerCafe.com, "Back in 1969 the United Nations got together to create an easier way to identify the origins of different vehicles traveling in Europe and elsewhere, since so many license… Continue

Chris Lupoli Calling All "Snow Birds"!

As many of you know, the term "Snow Bird" refers to those who live most of the year in the north and spend the winters in southern areas to avoid extreme cold winter temperatures, snow and ice. Many of these folks choose to make their winter home on Skidaway Island. Although the temps have not been too favorable the last week or so, I suppose it is all relative. In general though, the Savannah area is a great reprieve in the winter from other northern locales. There are many reasons why we crea… Continue

Chris Lupoli Haunted History of Savannah

Savannah is a city full of history. I am sure we have all seen the ads for the Ghost Tours while downtown. They are a big attraction for the tourist industry in Savannah. I have not personally been on one, but have heard they can be alot of fun. There are many locations in Savannah that proclaim to be haunted. Whether you believe them or not, the tales can be very entertaining. I have heard bits and pieces of these tales over the years, but never had a great insight into the details. Recently,… Continue

Did You Know?

Groups on ST

Did you know you can create a group on topics of interest to Islanders? Groups can be public where any member can join. Or they can be private where only approved group members can join a group and see the communications that occur within the group.

Private groups are great to use when information exchanged in the group is not intended for public view.

Utilizing groups on Skidaway Today makes communications with an interest group much easier than traditional e-mail. The can also be a great recruiting tool to attract new members to an existing organization on the island.

Check out Video Help for more info on creating groups.

Please let us know if you have any questions on setting up new groups.
